I first came to work with Dr. Kays before embarking on auditions for doctoral-level music programs. Before working with him, I had the tendency to let little things bog me down during performances, and would overthink every aspect of my playing and performances. After multiple sessions with Dr. Kays, I was offered admission and doctoral teaching assistantships at several schools, performed one of the best recitals of my performing career, and won an audition for the principal trumpet position in a professional orchestra. The skills that I was able to learn and develop with Dr. Kays have shaped every facet of my playing, and have made me a better person, performer, and music educator! These skills are a must have for any performer, and are an incredible asset that I am incredibly fortunate to be able to utilize daily, and to pass along to my students!
